Final Details on Tonight’s New Japan Wrestle Kingdom 9 PPV; WZ Live Coverage Info, How to Order the PPV & More

Happy New Year to all our faithful Wrestlezone readers!

Wrestlezone will have complete, detailed coverage of WRESTLE KINGDOM beginning with the live broadcast at 2 a.m. ET late Saturday night/early Sunday morning.

DirecTV will be offering the live version of the show, and a replay in the tradition 7 p.m. ET slot on Sunday night. There has been a lot of confusion over which cable providers will be offering WRESTLE KINGDOM at which times, so make sure you check your local listings or contact your providers if you will be watching the English language version of the show.

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, anything over 10,000 pay-per-view buys would be considered an initial success, but with all the promotion Jeff Jarrett and Jim Ross have been doing over the past few months, they will obviously be looking for bigger numbers. Ring of Honor managed more than 10K buys for their return to PPV in 2014; New Japan is a much bigger company, but is extremely limited in the U.S. market.

If WRESTLE KINGDOM does find success, Jarrett may look into bringing AAA TripleMania to the U.S. later this year, as well as the G1 Climax finals in late 2015.

KILLAM: Basically what I’m saying is you should buy this show if you want to see more of them in the future. DirecTV is $44.95 for the 4-hour show in HD, and JR has been basically equating WK to WrestleMania, and has compared the main event to Flair/Steamboat and Rock/Austin. This is the type of show you may end up kicking yourself for missing. I’ll be doing the live coverage myself, so at the very least join us here this weekend and order the replay based on our review.
