Details on Why WWE & Other Companies Rarely Test for HGH in Athletes, Sami Zayn Talks NXT & Kevin Steen; Calls Triple H a “Visionary”

HGH in WWE?

wwe legendAccording to the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter, while the WWE has explicitly banned the use of HGH (human growth hormone), most organizations don’t test for it because it’s impossible to track via standard urine tests. Not only are HGH tests expensive, but in the past they weren’t always reliable, and unless the technology has drastically improved you have to catch the user soon after administering an injection.

This became a topic of discussion when UFC fighter Cung Le tested positive after his recent fight with Michael Bisping. In sports HGH is most commonly combined with other substances to boost muscle growth and overall physique.

HGH is currently listed in section 4, sub-section B of the WWE Substance Abuse and Drug Testing Policy as a prohibited drug.

KILLAM: It’s one of those things that, unless they’re really lucky or one guy tips off the office to a travel buddy, or immediately reports a rumor, they’re not going to catch. Unless WWE wants to start taking blood samples after every episode of RAW, it’s not something that’s likely to be cracked down on. Cung Le was only caught because he showed up looking massive, with muscles and a physique he’s never had in almost two decades as a professional athlete.
