First Part of Triple H on “Talk is Jericho” Available; Tells Hilarious Story of First Tour w/ The Kliq, Meeting That Started the Attitude Era

Chris JerichoChris Jericho was joined by WWE COO Triple H for part one of his interview on “Talk is Jericho” this week.

One of the best stories Triple H tells during the interview is about his first wrestling tour with the group that would eventually be known as The Kliq.

“The first time I rode with them, I just happened to be in the airport and I was gonna make the loop by myself. I was waiting in the car line and Kevin [Nash] pulls up in a big white van … and is like, ‘jump in with us.’ So I get in there, Scott [Hall] gets in there, Shawn [Michaels] gets in there, and Kid [Sean Waltman]. It’s my first loop. We do the show, and after the show we go to Dennys. Long story short, we carry Kid out – Shawn can barely carry him with me. Kevin dragged Scott out, because we’re trying to get out before the cops come. I’m slapping the crap out of Kid, because I can’t feel his heart beat, and we all end up in the emergency room. This is my first night.”

There’s also a great story about Vince McMahon setting up a meeting with top talents prior to the Attitude Era, asking them to make their own roster and teams, and trying to figure out how they could change the product to improve business.

“The first spark to me, the first spark of the Attitude Era that I ever saw, was in that room. The conversation was based on reality. Why do we have Doink the Clown? Basketball players just wear basketball uniforms, and go to the court and play basketball. Why can’t we just be wrestlers? Why do we have to be firemen, or cops, or doctors – why can’t it just be more real? Vince was really into the discussion. That was the first time I had ever heard it laid out that way.”
