Update on WWE World Title Picture Plans for Roman Reigns, How a Lawsuit Tied Into Del Rio’s WWE Release

Source: The Wrestling Observer

Following John Cena’s WWE World Title rematch against Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions, a hot topic has been who will be next to challenge Lesnar after the PPV.

While some feel Roman Reigns might be that guy, and WWE does in fact regard Reigns as “the chose one” right now, backstage word in WWE is there are no plans to insert Reigns into the title picture until WrestleMania 31.

This is for several reasons. One, is that it would be counterproductive to have Reigns challenge Lesnar for the title following Night of Champions and then lose. Secondly, if Reigns wins the title now as opposed to at WrestleMania, WWE would lose out on the WrestleMania big moment they want with Reigns capturing the title.

How a Lawsuit Tied Into Alberto Del Rio’s WWE Release

As we reported months ago, a lawsuit is pending in WWE involving Big Show and former producer Andrew Green, stemming from Green alleging Big Show roughed him during a backstage segment shot for TV.

This reportedly played a hand in Alberto Del Rio’s release, as WWE officials did not want another case like that on their hands, as failure to punish Del Rio could have potentially strengthen the case against Big Show.
