NY Tapings Selling Slow
Tickets for TNA's first set of tapings in New York are not selling well, reports The Wrestling Observer. The front row is sold out for all three nights, but there are said to be tons of ringside seats still available. With only 800 seats to fill and the fact that NYC is typically very fast out of the gate to purchase tickets, it's a bit surprising they are struggling with sales.
As noted, TNA added a second set of tapings at the Manhattan Center for 8/5-8/7. Those three nights worth of tapings will quite possibly get Impact to the end of its current contract with Spike, which has still not been renewed as of yet.
Six-Sided Ring To Return?
TNA is polling fans on their Facebook page about whether or not the six-sided ring should return. While this doesn't mean they will be bringing it back, it's been talked about internally for months now.
Russo Reveals Why MVP Turned
In a recent column on his new website, Vince Russo revealed that MVP's recent heel turn was a result of Kurt Angle's injury. Eric Young needed a challenger and it was originally scheduled to be Angle, but his injury forced TNA to look in other directions. They landed on MVP as being the best choice. Here is an excerpt from Russo's column:
"..it was explained to me that the MVP turn was needed because Kurt Angle was slotted to have the next program with Eric Young, and Kurt blew out his knee. So being handed that situation, the writers looked at their list of available heels, and felt it wasn’t sufficient for what they needed—so—the decision was made to turn MVP. Not maybe what they wanted to do, but perhaps what they had to do with the cards they were dealt.
