Change Made to US Championship Match on WWE Smackdown This Week

WWE SmackdownIt was announced on Monday Night Raw this week that Dean Ambrose would be defending his United States Championship this Friday on WWE Smackdown. His opponents would be Ryback, Curtis Axel and Alberto del Rio, who would face the champ in a 3-on-1 handicap match where, presumably, whoever took the pin would win the title.

On tonight's edition of WWE Main Event on the Network, the match was changed to a more appropriate Fatal-4-Way match for the US Championship. All four participants remain the same, so it will be Dean Ambrose vs. Alberto del Rio vs. Curtis Axel vs. Ryback for the belt.

Ambrose recently surpassed MVP to become the longest reigning US Champion in WWE history, since the title became exclusive to the company in 2001 following the buy-out of WCW. He is the third longest reigning champ overall, with only Lex Luger and Rick Rude in front of him.
