Following the concussion Christian suffered on RAW this week, backstage talks of his future as an active performer have started back up again. The Wrestling Observer has a new report out suggesting that retirement could be in order when Christian's current contract expires.
In fact, it's being said that retirement talks have been going on for several months now, even prior to this week's injury. With Christian turning 40 last November, Creative having very little for him, plus his recent injuries (Monday's concussion was his second in one year), the idea of retirement is certainly understandable.
Another idea being discussed behind the scenes is about Christian's future with WWE if and when he did retire as a wrestler. Some feel he would make a great NXT trainer if he was interested in the position.
Christian won a Fatal 4-Way match on RAW this week and earned an Intercontinental Championship match against Big E. on WWE Main Event this past Wednesday. However, WWE announced on Main Event that Christian had suffered a "slight concussion" and was unable to compete in the title match. No further updates from WWE have been given.
