Mojo Rawley is getting hyped backstage. Or…staying hyped?
The Ascension vs. Travis Tyler & Kal Bishop
I may have butchered the jobber's names, because I've never heard of them before and neither got a proper introduction.
Viktor starts things off for the tag team champions, having his way with the young wrestlers. Travis actually stalls him up in the ropes and Kal gets in a couple of shots, but Viktor easily shakes them off and tags in Konnor. The big man puts the boots to Travis in the corner, followed by a huge knee off the top rope. Ascension with Fall of Man for the 1-2-3.
Winners: The Ascension
Mike's Thoughts: Very simple jobber match. Time for NXT to start making a real tag team division. So far, these two local dudes and Too Cool isn't enough to make me care about their tag team champions. I've heard great things about them, and they seem to be over with the fans – show me why!
Renee Young joins the commentary booth, so we've got four people calling now.
Mason Ryan vs. Lesley Blake
The two big guys actually start the match by locking up. They do some chain wrestling, but quickly Mason goes to the ground-and-pound game. Blake throws a few shoulders out of the corner, but Ryan catches him out of the air with a running powerslam.
The big guy runs shoulder-first into the post, and Blake tries to roll him up, but only gets a two-count. Lesley into a standing armbar, which gets reversed with an arm drag. Mason with a massive clothesline, followed by a running big boot. Cobra Clutch Slam, and this one is over.
Winner: Mason Ryan
Mike's Thoughts: Well…we're 3 for 3 in short matches that don't matter tonight. For a quick "squash" that sure gave Mason Ryan more trouble than it should have. Not sure why two big guys did so much grapling early on – something I don't normally complain about. Just felt like they tried to do too much with too little, and nobody really got over.
