The Toronto Sun is reporting wrestling legend The Iron Sheik has challenged Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, who has recently been embroiled in controversy, to an arm wrestling contest. The report reads:
The Iron Sheik knocked on embattled Mayor Rob Ford’s office door Wednesday.
The wrestling legend’s unexpected entrance at City Hall amid Ford’s ongoing crack cocaine scandal captured the attention of the media waiting outside the mayor’s office.
The spectacle was just one part of the surreal media storm swirling around Toronto’s top municipal politician.
Wednesday’s bizarre drama included a former school board trustee dropping off a Dr. Seuss book for Ford, a supporter of the civic leader showing up to shout at the media and the mayor blowing a kiss at the cameras from behind his office windows as he avoided questions.
Just before 3 p.m., the Iron Sheik rolled into City Hall in a wheelchair challenging Ford to an arm-wrestling match and daring him to show up at his roast Thursday night.
“I saw he beat Hulk Hogan (in an arm-wrestling match in August). I want to know if he can beat the Iron Sheik or not,” he said. “I was the champion before Hulk Hogan.”
In full wrestling bravado, the Sheik told reporters he wants to face off with Ford. “The man eats a cheeseburger and smokes crack. What kind of role model is that for the city?” he asked. “I just want to know if he is a real man or not.”
