The Godfather Returning to Wrestling
Charles Wright, aka The Godfather, is looking to get back into pro wrestling full time on the indies, reports The Wrestling Observer. Wright, 52, has been managing a Las Vegas stripclub called Cheetahs, but recently began putting his name back out there in wrestling circles trying to get bookings.
Where is Maven?
In a "Where Are They Now?" story, Maven Huffman was spotted bouncing at a NYC bar last week by UFC and MMA reporter, Ariel Helwani. The bar was Midtown 1015.
Helwani noted on his Twitter that he told Huffman how much he enjoyed his notorious Royal Rumble spot, but Huffman didn't seem too pleased the subject was brought up. It's not common, but certainly isn't unheard of when former wrestlers leave and want nothing to do with the wrestling business, nor do they want to be reminded of their time in it.
I've heard several accounts like this with Maven since his departure. It was also last year that Maven entered and completed 50 days of a WWE sponsored rehab program following a major prescription drug arrest.
Mark Copani, who wrestled for WWE as Muhammad Hassan and had a very controversial exit from the company, is another example. When he left WWE in 2005, he wouldn't talk about it with virtually anyone. I knew a close friend of Copani's back then and recall him telling me that WWE simply left a "sour taste" in his mouth toward the business as a whole.
Copani wrestled as Hassan on the indy circuit one time in 2010, and just recently, I heard that he was doing some sort of recruiting on the indy wrestling circuit.
