CM Punk and Paul Heyman come to the ring and Punk says he can't sleep, and it's because he is scared of all of his potential. He says everything that WWE is keeps him up at night, and there's only one thing standing in his way, but it's not The Rock. Punk says The Shield is getting in his way, and Vince McMahon made a stipulation that strips him of the title if The Shield shows up. Heyman reads the official letter from Vince's office, then Punk says he can't be beaten so Vince wants to steal the title from him. Punk says he is going to fix things right now, and he's going to do what no one's had the balls to do yet. Punk calls out The Shield and tells them to come to the ring, then he grabs a chair and says he isn't leaving until they show up.
The Shield surrounds the ring as Punk prepares to defend himself, then he says he'll make this simple and he tells them he never asked them to attack anyone. He says he never asked them for anything at all, so he wants to make this very clear and he tells them to stay out of his way. Punk says they fight injustice, but he fights to keep his record-setting title run going and the best in the world doesn't need anyone's help. Punk says they shouldn't have to cross paths again, then The Shield leaves the ring and Punk says that's over so they can get back to business. He says he's the best in the world and the Royal Rumble is in two days, so The Rock may be great, but he's like the fans and they're all inferior to him.
Punk says he will prove again that he's the best in world, then he repeats himself before raising his title above his head and calling himself the greatest of all time. The Rock comes out and poses for the fans, then he stares Punk down as Punk shows him his championship and tells him to come and get it. Rock calls for a mic and he says he'll put an end to Punk's garbage right now, and he says Punk is a liar and he's working with The Shield. He says he really doesn't give a damn though, because he's going to take his boot and shove it up Punk's ass on Sunday. Rock says Punk is going to panic and crack on Sunday, and when that happens he'll lift him for the Rock Bottom and Punk will know what's coming. Rock says he promised he would become champion, and Punk will know it's all over, if you smell what The Rock is cookin'.
