(7) D-Von vs. Kurt Angle
Results: The two traded offense with Kurt Angle eventually getting the better of his advances, planting his opponent with the Olympic Slam. D-Von would kick out, and the Aces & Eights came from the back to surround the ring. Angle slapped on the Ankle Lock and D-Von was forced to tap out at 12:36. Angle bailed from the ring as soon as the bell rang and just narrowly avoided the assault by the Eights.
Review: I didn’t mind the match, but I’m not sure I understand the logic behind Kurt Angle winning it. Their encounter already felt random, and having no big Aces & Eights reveal tonight wasn’t my idea of “delivering” on pay-per-view. Whenever Angle is involved, the match isn’t going to be that bad; Devon is a long-time veteran and the two put on a standard wrestling match with all of their normal spots. If they were meeting on Impact, this would have been a passable showing. But people pay to see storyline development on pay-per-view, as well as good wrestling matches. You can have one without the other, but having both validates my purchase and won’t make me thing twice about it next month.
