Sting chases him down and punches him before throwing him into the guardrail, then he throws him into the steps and throws him back in the ring. Roode keeps trying to get away but Sting stops him, then Roode snaps his arm down on the ropes and chokes and stomps him in the corner. Roode elbows him on the ring apron and throws him into the turnbuckles, then hits a snapmare and drives his head down on the mat. Sting fights back with some right hands, then he whips Roode across the ring but Roode kicks him in the head and gets a two count. Roode puts Sting in a sleeprhold but Sting runs the ropes and reverses the hold, then Roode slams him back and climbs to the top turnbuckle.
Sting cuts him off hits a superplex, then he applies a Scorpion Deathlock and Roode fights to crawl to the ropes to break the hold. Roode goes back outside but Sting sends him into the guardrail, then he rolls in the ring to break the ten count and goes back after Roode. He drags Roode down the ramp into the ring, and Roode rolls out the other side but Sting runs around the ring and hits a Stinger Splash against the guardrail. Roode climbs on the broadcast table and Sting puts him in the Scorpion Deathlock, then Roode starts tapping out but the ref tells him to get back in the ring. Roode grabs some beer left at ringside from James Storm’s return, and he brings it in when Sting rolls him in.
Roode tries to hit Sting with a bottle, but Sting blocks the strike and grabs the bottle, then the referee takes it and prevents Sting from also using it. Sting gets in the ring but Roode picks up another bottle and smashes it over his head, then Roode makes the cover and celebrates with his title. Sting is busted open, but he gets up behind Roode and clotheslines him over the top rope when Roode turns around. Sting knocks out the referee and takes Roode up to the stage, then he suplexes him on the ramp and throws him into some stage equipment. Roode tries to crawl away, but Sting grabs him and Scorpion Death Drops him off the stage and into a table as the show ends.
