Which PPV was MetLife Originally Supposed to Host?; ‘Mania 29

Vince McMahonAccording to TimesUnion and MetLife Senior VP for Events and Guest Apperances, Ron VanDeVeen, the MetLife Stadium in NJ was originally in talks to host SummerSlam, until plans for WrestleMania were brought up. The obvious feeling was that WrestleMania would draw bigger numbers and revenue for the city, as well as being an acceptable replacement for Madison Square Garden, as Vince McMahon was quoted as saying “WrestleMania on that date next year, comes home.”

Speaking of ‘Mania 29 and the MetLife Stadium, WWE SVP for Special Events, John Sabor, expects the event to out-shine WrestleMania 27 in Atlanta!

“WrestleMania has quickly grown into a week-long celebration generating in excess of $60 million of new direct spending for the host community where it takes place. We expect by virtue of the enormity of this market, the popularity of this market, we expect to see a greater result of WrestleMania week.”
