Austin vs. Hogan Update, Stone Cold’s Lines Cut

As part of the press tour for The Longest Yard, Steve Austin did an interview for the Knight Ridder news service:

On Acting vs. Wrestling

“Acting is the same as wrestling. You go in and use psychology to manipulate the crowd, to tell the story. In the wrestling ring, it’s a play every night of the week.”

On Pay For The Longest Yard

“We (wrestlers) were all getting paid the same – none of us got rich off this movie – so it didn’t matter which part we got.”

On Austin’s ‘Explicit’ Lines Being Edited From The Film; His Performance In The Movie

“I couldn’t really tell how I was doing. I’m used to 20,000 fans screaming at me,” says Austin, who says much of his best, “unsavory” stuff had to be cut to get “Yard” a PG-13 rating. “The director would always be telling me, ‘That’s great, that’s great.’ But he said that to everyone.”

As with much of his recent press, Austin also noted that he would be interested in stepping into the ring for a match with Hulk Hogan.
