PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
» When people think of the ‘best’ matches to come from the UK in the new millennium, most fans think Jonny Storm & Jody Fleish. Be it in CZW, IWA:MS, or across England and Europe, these two amazing high flyers had matches that wow’d crowds over and over, and still continue to do so on DVD release.
Given Jonny Storm’s past history with the Flaming Red in the original Best of British: High Flyers match, a contest that occurred before Fleish’s return to the ring this past April after over a year out retired, IPW officials originally wanted to proceed with Storm vs. Red. However, since The Chav Army got word of this and entered into the Tag Team tournament, it now makes perfect sense that the Pheonix and Storm take flight together against The Chav Army, in IPW:UK’s second confirmed match-up in the Weekend of Champions Tag Tournament opening round.
» Another man exclusively trying to fight for his right to be the #1 Contender in IPW:UK this coming July, is a young man by the name of Spud. One of the large breed of high flyers in IPW, Spud has now gone months without being able to have a ‘fair’ fight in IPW. After being subject to a vicious attack by Jack Storm at Return of the Dragon, and then a second attack, this time by ‘The Human Hate Machine’ Dave Morales during a match WITH Jack Storm at Best of British 2, things aren’t looking good for the WoC either.
As the latest entrant to the night 1 Battle Rumble for the IPW title’s #1 contendership, Spud knows that he is already entering the fray with little-to-no backup outside of a currently wounded Tony Sefton. He also knows that Team Charming members Jack Storm & Dave Morales are already entrants, both likely to be accompanied to ringside by ‘Charming’ Don Charles (assuming he has recovered from the severe facial injuries inflicted on him by Samoa Joe back in March).
Did this stop the pint-size Brummie from signing on the dotted line for the Weekend of Champions? No chance.
» In his UK debut, the son of the late great Davey Boy Smith – The British Bulldog, Harry Smith will come to IPW:UK this July. At the tender age of just 18, Smith has already competed across the Globe, recently making his first foray into Japan and having dark matches with the WWE. He hasn’t, however, made his competitive debut in England. But, come July 16th, he will have. Teaming together with Andy Boy Simmonz, Smith will look to continue the family’s strong tag team history this side of the pond, after previously holding tag straps in Canada with fellow “Stampede Bulldog” TJ Wilson.
Tickets to this spectacular double head “Weekend of Champions” are now on sale by either calling the Kent box office on 07780 677007, or heading over to www.ipwuk.com and clicking on “Tickets”.
Other News:
— It has been decided by IPW management that some matches will be announced in the coming days for Night 2 of the Weekend of Champions. These matches are very much subject to change, based on what happens the night previous in the Tag Team Tournament and the #1 Contendership Battle Rumble. By no means does the new #1 Contender HAVE to face the IPW:UK Champion on Night 2, but it is expected that they will.
