Moving to this year. You and Brock Lesnar made an appearance at a New Japan show at the start of the year. Obviously Brock’s appearance there has caused quite a stir, and there’s the lawsuit with WWE…was your appearance at the show purely because you were with Brock, or did (Antonio) Inoki have plans for you to work there down the line?
I was there only because I was with Brock at the time.
Was there ever any talk about you both returning to make appearances?
New Japan wanted Brock to return, but not with me though, unless they had plans that I did not know about.
When the New Japan appearance took place, was Brock looking to appear in the ring for the promotion? The official line was that you were there purely as friends of Inoki, but was there more to it?
We were there as “guests”, but they wanted to use Brock down the line. New Japan had also wanted to do Kurt Angle vs. Brock Lesnar prior to that but WWE didn’t approve of the idea and didn’t allow the match to happen.
While we’re on the subject of Brock, WWE.com recently reported that he’d had talks with WWE with regards to returning to the company, only for them to report that talks had broken down. There’s been a lot of talk that WWE are trying to put out another “worked shoot” to throw fans off guard. Can you enlighten us as to whether or not Brock Lesnar will be returning to WWE, and also what the status of the lawsuit is?
I really don’t have the latest inside scoop for obvious reasons. Last time I knew something, he (Brock) looked like he was going back to WWE. I don’t think he has explained to anyone why he isn’t going, so I suppose there is a chance that it’s a work.
