WWE World Champion Batista reportedly suffered a back muscle tear at Tuesday’s “Friday Night SmackDown!” taping after taking a double chokeslam.
After working a quick, three-minute match with Randy Orton, Batista returned to the lockerroom in pain. Sources report that he had “obviously” torn his latissiums dorsi, a muscle on the upper back that connects under each arm.
One source described the muscle as being “rolled up.”
WWE was to make arrangements for Batista to be evaluated by a doctor–likely Dr. James Andrews–Wednesday.
It is too early to determine the length of time, if any, Batista will spend away from the ring.
