Special thanks to Joe Arcurio for emailing me the following report:
I just got back from RAW in Pittsburgh and wanted to share some results and notes.
Dark/Heat Matches:
Charlie Haas def. Val Venis
Cade & Murdoch def. The Highlanders
Snitsky def. Shawn Reynolds? *It was tough to hear his name)
Super Crazy def. Rob Conway
Notes from Raw:
The Crowd was hot from the beginning. DX was way over, as was Flair. The Spirit Squad got some good heel heat.
The Divas were all over, mainly because of their looks. I was glad to see Victoria get the win so we can at least get a half decent women’s title feud going.
The crowd started to die down during the Duggan/Eugene match. Nobody really cared all that much.
The Cutting Edge segment killed off the rest of the crowd heat because we have seen the same thing over and over again. No heat at all on the chair shots to Flair. A lot of people left for the restrooms/concession stands.
Lawler vs. Masters was OK. Nothing special and the crowd wasn’t really into it until Carlito came out and cost Masters the match. Carlito is OVER and needs a good push.
Cena/Umaga staredown was OK. Umaga got good heel heat, and Cena got a mixed reaction as usual.
The crowd was crapping on the Michael Richards imitation skit until Cryme Tyme hit the screen. Cryme Tyme is also very over.
The Main Event was good. Crowd was into it for the most part except for a time when Matt was down for a while in some rest holds. Other than that, it was a decent match live.
Post Raw:
DX hits the ring and starts beating on Team RKO. Then, Umaga comes out and makes it 3 on 2. Then Cena comes out to another mixed reaction and makes it 3 on 3. Which led to the Dark Match Main Event. Typical back and forth six man match up. Faces got the upper hand early, heels then isolated the face, faces come in and clear house leading to the finish. Cena pinned Edge with an FU to close the show.
Final thoughts:
The Crowd was in the neighborhood of 10,000-12,000. Upper section was tarped off and the section below that was mainly empty. Entire area behind the Titan-tron was tarped off as well. Lots of empty seats on the hard camera side as well. The crowd was hot for the first hour, but died down until the main event. Tons of DX merchandise was being sold. Edge and Cena t-shirts were also being sold. Lots of young kids in the crowd. Overall it was a good show to be at live.
Biggest Pops:
DX
Flair
Carlito
Hardy’s
Cryme Tyme
Cena
Most Heat:
Edge
Orton
Spirit Squad
