WWE has announced that they will be holding a free event on Venice Beach in California on August 18th. The company will actually be setting a ring up on the beach and will have a number of autograph signings, giveaways, and even some matches beginning at 10:30 AM Pacific. The idea behind it is to promote this yearâs SummerSlam pay-per-view, much how WWE does the AXXESS events to promote WrestleMania each year. Talent scheduled to work the special event includes Rey Mysterio, Chavo Guerrero, Torrie Wilson, Maria, Chris Masters, Chuck Palumbo, Daivari, Jimmy Wang Yang and Val Venis.
Finlay is scheduled to work tonightâs OVW event at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville, KY. Shelton Benjamin and Mark Henry are scheduled for next weekâs show at the theme park.
Recently terminated WWE superstar Rene Dupree has accepted a booking with the HUSTLE promotion over in Japan.
Tony Schiavone is slated to be the play-by-play commentator at an upcoming pay-per-view called WrestleFest this October. He will be calling the matches alongside his ex-partner Larry Zbyszko. This will be his first commentary gig since 2001. This event will be at the Cow Palace in San Francisco and the main event is scheduled to feature a triple threat match between Christian Cage, Abyss and a mystery wrestler. Former WWE & WCW wrestlers, as well as local wrestlers, will fill out the rest of the card. Click here for details on this event. The pay-per-view is going to be held in conjuction with a wrestling convention that same weekend. The convention will feature Steve Austin, Goldberg, Roddy Piper, Kurt Angle and several dozen other stars.
