Well, this week’s Smackdown! revealed what voters at WWE.com thought were the five best matches of 2007. According to Michael Cole, over 250,000 fans voted, and here were the results.

5. Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Wrestlemania 23 (April 1) – Won by Mr. Kennedy.

4. Randy Orton vs. Triple H for the WWE Championship in a Last Man Standing Match, No Mercy (Oct. 7) – Won by Randy Orton.

3. John Cena vs. Shawn Michaels, Raw (from London, England on April 23) – Won by Shawn Michaels after a grueling 60:15 match.

2. The traditional Survivor Series Match (Nov. 18) – Won by Triple H and Jeff Hardy.

1. Undertaker vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship, Wrestlemania 23 (April 1) – Won by Undertaker.

Also included in the episode were flashes of “great moments” from 2007, including Triple H’s return at Summerslam to defeat King Booker, Chris Jericho’s return, Hornswoggle being revealed as VKM’s son, Stone Cold Steve Austin dousing Santino Marella and Maria with beer, Eve winning the Diva Search, Edge cashing in Money in the Bank on a wounded Undertaker to win the WHC strap, and the hair vs. hair match featuring Umaga and Bobby Lashley championing VKM and Donald Trump respectively.

I can’t say I disagree with the matches chosen by you fans out there, although I might have some issues with the order. Personally, I think the match between Cena and Michaels was better than the Survivor Series match, and probably could have been a close rival to the No. 1 spot. I would probably have dropped the SS match down to No. 5, Cena vs. Michaels up at least one notch, and the last two each move up respectively.

Some other things were discovered on this episode, however. For instance, starting next week will be another round of Beat the Clock competition to see who will face Edge for the WHC at the Royal Rumble. Also, as reported earlier on Wrestle Zone, the Baltimore station (which happens to be what I get with my satellite service) is advertising Edge vs. Batista in a Last Man Standing match, and appearances by Undertaker and CM Punk.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

Normally this is something I would hold off on until my usual edition of Pullin’ No Punches. However, I feel the need to vent this one now rather than later.

First, it’s come to our attention that Maria will be the latest Diva joining the ranks of those who have posed for Playboy. One word – Yummy! I can’t wait to see this one.

But on a more serious note, it’s been reported that Hustler will be publishing photos taken from video footage of a photo shoot done years ago with Nancy Benoit.

Have you no class whatsoever?

I had to reread this report when I saw it, and still have trouble believing that anyone could be so distasteful. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about controversy. Love it, love to stir it up, and love to keep the ambers stoked whenever I can. But this goes beyond controversial in my book, it’s completely and morally distasteful.

Here we have a beautiful woman who in a terrible and tragic moment was struck down by the man she loved, along with their young son. So the best way to remember her is to throw out some no photos of her that she probably, while alive, thought didn’t exist any more, right?

But who am I kidding. Hustler is no Playboy. Playboy is a gentlemen’s magazine that, while displaying nudity, does so with class. Hustler isn’t in the same league, but then again never claimed to be. You won’t find XXX-rated poses in Playboy – you need Hustler for that.

But before you mistake what I’m saying here, let me clarify. I have no problem with XXX-rated material. I’ve enjoyed some myself – but we won’t go there.

What I do have a problem with is a magazine exploiting the publicity that comes from a tragic murder-suicide by showing XXX-rated photos of a victim who, if alive today, would probably fought with legal tooth and nail to keep them from surfacing.

Mr. Flynt, you truly are a classless, self-serving son of a bitch. Enjoy your riches now – you won’t be able to take them with you where you’re going.
