Former WWE World Tag Team Champion Sylvain Grenier worked his first TNA show at the 12/27 house show in Montreal. Grenier does commentary for the French language broadcasts of Impact. He came out at the start of the show to welcome the crowd. After the Kurt Angle vs. Christian Cage main event that ended in a DQ because Angle hit Cage with the title belt, Angle was planning on giving a chairshot to Cage, but Grenier did a run-in and stopped him. The show ended with Cage putting Angle in the sharpshooter with him tapping. Angle then did a babyface promo where he thanked the fans for coming. He also ripped WWE. Angle then posed for photos with fans in the middle of the ring for $20 a pop.
Former WWF World Tag Team Championship Rick Martel appeared at the 12/28 TNA house show in Quebec City — which is his hometown. LAX beat former Team Canada members Robert Roode and Johnny Devine at the show, which was a set up for a Rick Martel run-in. After the match, Devine taunted Martel. Martel confronted Devine and made him tap out. Roode then tried to attack Martel, but Sylvain Grenier ran in for the save.
