Huge Joey Mercury/ROH Update, Y2J’s Next Book, & More

As we reported here yesterday, former WWE superstar Joey Mercury showed up in Ring of Honor this weekend. Using his old ring name (Joey Matthews), he joined the “Age of the Fall” stable Friday night in Dayton, Ohio. It was his first ROH appearance in over 4 years – he wrestled for the company briefly in early 2004. Matthews cut a promo where he talked about his past demons as well as his time in WWE as part of the successful MNM tag team. He was said to have carried himself well. Last night in Chicago Ridge, Illinois, Matthews made his in-ring return against Mark Briscoe. Although Briscoe won the bout, Matthews held his own and will be a good addition to the ROH roster as well as the Age of the Fall stable.

Chris Jericho has agreed to write another book. This one will pick up where the last one left off, his arrival in WWE. Unlike his most recent book, his next book will not be published by WWE.

Speaking of Jericho, will be doing vocals for three songs for the metal band Nasty Savage on their upcoming album, “Psycho Psycho”.

Several WWE stars have been in New York City this weekend for the company’s first round of “WrestleMania Fan AXXESS” events. Last night WWE tag champions The Miz and John Morrison drew a huge crowd of over 500 fans. According to live reports I’ve read, the two were treated like rock stars during and after the signing. When tag champs were leaving, everybody swarmed their limosine and started rocking it back and forth as it drove away. It was said to be quite a scene.
