The State of TNA Wrestling Address

By: Chris â<80><9c>The Authorityâ<80> Schultz

As most of you know, I usually do the TNA reviews here at Wrestlezone.com. You have probably been wondering why you didnâ<80><99>t see a review for this last weekâ<80><99>s Lockdown PPV and Impact. I wish I could say it was because I was too busy or on vacation, but unfortunately that is not the truth. To be completely honest, I am completely disgusted with what I have been watching. To see a company with such star power and talented professional wrestlers put out such a ridiculous product makes me sick to my stomach. In all fairness, I will point out in this column what I believe TNA is doing well. Please remember, unlike Samoa Joe claimed to be in an interview at Lockdown, I have been with this company since day one. Not only did I work for them for 2 ½ years, I purchased every one of their weekly shows that were broadcast from the Asylum in Nashville. No one has been a bigger fan or seen more potential in this company than I. I want them to succeed. I always have and always will and that is why I am writing this today.

If anyone in TNA is reading this, I would like a refund for the $30.00 I spent on Lockdown. You mean to tell me that after every match surrounded by a cage only one man gets cut open? Why have the cage if you are not going to use it to your advantage? Kudos goes out to Brother D-Von for always stepping up when it comes to putting on the crimson mask. I even saw kendo sticks, tables, ladders, and chairs in the Lethal Lockdown Main Event. We know these weapons hurt, but give us a visual!

OK, enough of that. I was happy to see Samoa Joe finally win the TNA World Heavyweight Title. It was much deserved. What upset me was the lack of fireworks or confetti etc. after the match. If this was Kurt Angle, Sting, Jeff Jarrett or whoever, they would be treating it like they just won the Superbowl. Hell, the crowd didnâ<80><99>t even seem too thrilled to see Samoa Joe finally make it to the top. Maybe they were all mulled to sleep after Kurt Angle and Joe pretended to be UFC fighters for half the match. I wonâ<80><99>t go into this again as I mentioned it in a previous article, but I will leave you with this. If you want to be an MMA fighter, quit pro wrestling and join the UFC or Pride. If you are an MMA fighter that would like to entertain audiences by going into professional wrestling, quit UFC and join TNA or the WWE. Donâ<80><99>t insult my intelligence in trying to make me believe that I am witness to a shoot fight. Itâ<80><99>s pro wrestling. I want to see DDTâ<80><99>s and Suplexes, not freaking arm locks and choke holds.

The finishes to most of the matches at Lockdown were letdowns. The Old Age Outlaws finish was puzzling to say the least. They build this fight up with promos for weeks and then itâ<80><99>s over in the blink of an eye with nothing out of the ordinary. Speaking of feuds, the one that TNA was doing a good job with was Booker T. and Robert Roode. I thought for sure we would have a violent all out blood bath on our hands and it ends with Sharmell pinning Ms. Banks? I couldnâ<80><99>t believe what I just saw. Then you have Scott Steiner getting the push back into the title picture at Sacrifice yet he gets handcuffed to the ring first in another pretty lame match. And will you please get rid of the whole Super Eric gimmick. Itâ<80><99>s stupid and has no place in wrestling. Eric Young is a talented athlete who doesnâ<80><99>t need to get over by portraying a superhero. Its bad enough we have to live with Sharkboy, guys with Guitar Hero toys, and Curryman.

I am convinced that TNA is turning into a circus. Glenn Gilbertti talks about bringing in these new wrestling fans and that ratings are up. What I canâ<80><99>t figure out is who in the world is enjoying this crap? Not only that, but what will TNA come up with next? I do have suggestions and this time I will put them in writing. Wait until next week and I will do my best to help out this company that is in dire need of assistance. Remember, we know I can dish it out, but I can take it as well. If you agree or disagree, I would love to hear from you. Your thoughts are always welcome. Thanks for reading.
