WZ.com Exclusive: Update on Wrestling Regulation In Georgia

The next meeting of the GAEC (Georgia Athletic & Entertainment Commission) is scheduled for Tuesday, December 9. At the last meeting the pending pro wrestling regulations were tabled.

I’ve learned from Executive Director, Andy Foster, that the pro wrestling regulations will now not be on the agenda at the December meeting. So there will be not vote on the rules that are currently published for review.

Efforts continue to gain support from the Commission Members to pass no regulation, and simply have Georgia promoters continue to conform to the current law by registering yearly and paying a $100 fee. The law also requires reporting to the Commission by the promoters but the specifics are up to the Commission.

Interestingly, one of the Commission Members is attorney, Cary Ichter, who is the attorney of record for Konnan in his lawsuit against TNA. Ichter has already disqualified himself from voting on wrestling regulation due to his “conflict of interest”, and under current Georgia law should the Commission regulate wrestling he would likely need to be removed from the Commission because of the “conflict”.
