There are numerous reports that following this event, dozens of fans who were watching the wrestlers leave the venue charged toward Chris Jericho’s vehicle as he was at a stop sign just outside the arena. According to the reports, some which vary in detail, a fan jumped on top of Jericho’s vehicle as the crowd swarmed the vehicle. Jericho is said to have attempted to open the door to the vehicle only to have a fan slam it back on him, but he was unable to exit the vehicle, at which time an altercation began involving a small group of fans and Jericho.
Apparently, Jericho hit the male fan who had slammed the door on him, resulting in the fan’s male friend attacking Jericho, and during the scuffle, a female friend of the two males already involved, joined in the altercation as well. Eyewitnesses say this is when venue security finally were able to get into the mix, attempting to separate Jericho from the fans. Before they could, however, witnesses report that Jericho spit in the woman’s face, only to have her return the favor.
Reportedly, Jericho attempted to return to his vehicle and leave the scene, but before he could, one of the males he had been scuffling with hit him from behind, ending with Jericho’s head hitting the top of the vehicle. This apparently sent Jericho over the edge, as he knocked one of the males to the ground, shoved the woman away from him, and was cussing at everyone. Security once again tried to gain control of the situation, but Jericho takes swings at them as well, yelling for them to do their jobs and to get the police involved. The female then apparently lunged at Jericho, who is said to have punched her in the face. Based on some video taken during the confrontation, it appears the female was attempting to reach into Jericho’s vehicle as he attempted to get back in and leave. Shortly thereafter, Jericho managed to get back into his vehicle and speed away.
Fans who were at the scene note that the situation played out over about five minutes. Finally police arrived, and the female who was involved is apparently pressing charges against Jericho.
