– I hate the Dr. Stevie/Abyss gimmick, but Lauren is hot and actually pulls off the acting fairly well, given the horrible circumstances of it being a cheesy storyline that no one really cares about.
– A.J. has definitely come a long way with his promos, but unfortunately, still has a long ways to go.
– Another short match between Morgan and Angle, but better than Sting and Young. I guess none of the home-grown’s are going to beat the main eventers.
– Wow, Jeff Jarrett sure got changed fast.
– I guess that’s how they try to keep Joe strong – a disqualification. Why would the ref stop Joe from kicking Jarrett’s leg though? That doesn’t make sense. At least they didn’t bury Joe though. Good confrontation with Joe and A.J. and although it would keep them out of the Main Event picture for a while, another good one-on-one program between those two would be enjoyable. I also think they would help elevate each other more. It’s still sad to say that though considering how long they’ve been with the company.
– It’s Rocky Balboa!
– Oh, no it’s not. Mike Tenay just told me it was a cardboard cut-out of Rocky. Thanks Mike. I can always count on you.
– Wow, I think that was one of Mick’s better matches in years!
– On a serious note, that was a little on the goofy side, but I actually thought it was fun. Mick has his moments and takes some stupid things and makes them work somehow.
– Good selling of Joe’s beatdown by the man who started the company seven years ago, Jeff Jarrett. He recovered rather quickly.
– Good finish.
Chris Cash’s Actual Serious Final Thought:
A decent go-home edition of Impact heading into the Sacrifice pay per view. TNA throws a lot of gimmick spaghetti at the wall hoping they’ll stick and normally they fall flat. However, I like the stipulation in the Main Event this Sunday. There’s a couple of different ways they could go with it. I just hope they make the decision to take the title away from Mick. I respect Mick and enjoy a lot of what he does on tv, but he shouldn’t be the Champion. I know they never looked at him as a long-term thing on top, but I don’t think he should have been a temporary thing either.
I think he’s the one that has to be pinned, which could be viewed as a let-down, but I just don’t see them having Sting or Jarrett get pinned. Angle’s the only one I could see losing what he sacrificed, but that would mean Mick either retains, Jeff wins, or Sting wins, and I’m not crazy about any of those scenarios. My bet is Angle pins Mick..or..Mick actually retains pinning Angle and they throw a wrench into the Mafia storyline. I’ll have more to say about my predictions on the pay per view, along with Nick, when we post up our preview article Sunday afternoon.
