CHIKARA: 7th annual Young Lions Cup tournament! Fan Appreciation Night!
August brings our annual tradition – the Young Lions Cup – back for it’s seventh incarnation! This year, 24 wrestlers, all age 25 or younger, will compete for the prized Cup that has been held by some of independent wrestling’s brightest stars, from Jigsaw to Chuck Taylor, from Hallowicked to Larry Sweeney. The first two rounds of action will take place in
1) Create-A-Wrestler
-This year’s CAW contest saw us deluged with ideas, and we’ll all find out the winner this year at Young Lions Cup. Is this Koala Lumpur or Ask-A-Ninja’s lucky year? Maybe we’ll see Dasher Hatfield or Emohel emerge at this year’s YLC…
2) Soldier Ant
-The militant mat mite of the Colony cheered on partner Fire Ant last year as he defeated Vin Gerard in the finals. Can Soldier Ant, hot off his lucha de apuesta last month at Aniversario, ride that wave of momentum to a YLC win?
3) Trik Davis
-Midwest stand-out
4) Frightmare
-The crazed sidekick of Hallowicked has made quite a splash since showing up last autumn. With pinfall victories over Grizzly Redwood and Brodie Lee to his credit, he’ll have to face down a field of competitors both bigger and more experienced than he is to bring home the gold…
5) Player Dos
– The aerial wonder from Canada, Player Dos, returns to the YLC…last year, he competed as "Stupified," but since then, a lot’s happened for the high-flyer. With impressive showings in the tag ranks, and at March’s "Rey de Voladores," he’s got a lot of momentum in ’09 that he lacked twelve months ago…
