Backstage: World Champion CM Punk Interview
"You know it’s funny, last year around this time I was able to cash in my first money in the bank. I even earned a slammy award. I am not trying to win a popularity contest." and continues to justify his actions as Matt Hardy comes up telling him he would have done things the exact same way if he were in that position. CM Punk tells Matt Hardy they aren’t friends and Matt hasn’t earned anything in his career and to stop being so buddy buddy. Matt Hardy would never be in the same position because he doesn’t win anything.
-A recap is shown of Edge telling Vickie Guerrero their marriage is over when Vickie resigned as WWE Monday Night RAW GM. The announcer’s table is a buzz with questions of who will be the new GM of Monday Night RAW. More clips are shown from last week.
World Heavy-Weight Title
Edge vs. Jeff Hardy vs. CM Punk (c)
First out is the Rated R Superstar, Edge, as his music sounds and pyro goes off around the stage and ramp. Jeff Hardy comes out next to his music. As we come back from commercial break, CM Punk comes out to his music. Ringside they are mentioning how CM Punk cashed in his money in the bank briefcase to win the title. They once again reannounce the three contendors in the ring with their statistics. The ref holds the belt up showing it to the cameras and crowd. The crowd chants. The bell rings. Match begins. Jeff Hardy goes directly to CM Punk attacking him early on. Hardy with a roll up but Edge knocks it out on the two count. CM Punk close lines Edge over the top rope. CM Punk flying out of the ring onto Edge, a very high risk manuevor so early in the match. Jeff Hardy flying over the top rope onto both CM Punk and Edge. Jeff Hardy once again attempting to pin CM Punk. CM Punk with a close line on Jeff Hardy with an attempted cover. CM Punk body slamming Jeff Hardy as the crowd begins chanting "Hardy!! Hardy!!" with Jeff lying nearly lifelessly in the middle of the ring. Edge crawling back up the ring, CM Punk attempts to hit Edge off the edge of the ring but Edge retaliates with an elbow to CM Punk’s face. Edge repeatidly punching CM Punk in the face, wearing him down and backing him into a corner. Edge beating CM Punk who is sitting on the top rope. Jeff Hardy jumps in, pushing Edge out of the way and then attempts to body slam CM Punk but Edge comes back once again with a close line. Punk crashing and burning. All three men lay damn near lifeless in the ring as we go to commercial break once again. As we come back from commercial Edge has CM Punk around the waist and is attempting to get out of a near submission. CM Punk throws Edge off the ropes and gives him a high kick to the face. Jeff Hardy crawls back in the ring. CM Punk with an elbow to Jeff Hardy and a two count. Edge jumps on pinning CM Punk’s shoulders to the ground with a two count as well. The announcers remind us there are no count outs in this match. Edge going low, sweaping the leg of CM Punk and successfully administering a leg lock, with Jeff Hardy behind him with a sleeper hold. CM Punk grabs Jeff Hardy by the hair, as Edge attempts to spear CM Punk but Jeff Hardy helps block it. Jeff Hardy seeming to be building momentum. Jeff Hardy goes for the cover on CM Punk but Edge once again stops it. CM Punk with a knee to Jeff Hardy’s chin knocking him to the ground. Edge goes face first into the ring apron due to Jeff Hardy, then Jeff Hardy off the top turn buckl. CM Punk attempting to pin Edge, but once again he kicks out. Jeff Hardy still down from the messed up landing from the top of the ring moments ago. Hardy attempts a twist of fate, but gets a spear by Edge. CM Punk crawling around the ring, Edge attempting to stand back up. Edge pushing Punk off the top turn buckle onto the metal stairs on the outside of the ring. CM Punk holding his leg as refs check to see if he’s ok. Double cross body between Edge and Jeff Hardy. Jeff Hardy with a Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb on Edge, but CM Punk breaks up the count pulling Jeff Hardy out of the ring. CM Punk rolls up Edge for the 1, 2, 3.
