Roman Reigns might have his hands full at SummerSlam.
Reigns successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship in a Tribal Combat match against Jacob Fatu at Clash in Italy. He looks to be moving on from that feud, and a recent report claims that a new name is in line to be Reigns‘ next challenger.
According to a report from the Self Made Pro podcast, Seth Rollins is the current favorite to face Reigns at SummerSlam. Rollins would earn the title shot by winning the 2026 King of the Ring tournament, which guarantees the winner a world title match at SummerSlam.
Seth Rollins is the current favorite, but plans are subject to change
It was noted that while there are “a lot of moving parts,” the current plan is to have Seth Rollins win the tournament and face Reigns.
This would be the first time Reigns and Rollins have faced off since they (and CM Punk) clashed in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 41. This would also be the first televised singles match between the two since Rollins beat Reigns (by disqualification) at the 2022 Royal Rumble.
It’s likely that Seth Rollins would go into the match as a babyface, a role he recently admitted that he’s not very good at. Rollins was in action on this week’s episode of WWE RAW, picking up a main event win over Bron Breakker in Turin, Italy.
Paul Heyman was an accidental casualty when Breakker attempted to spear Rollins at ringside. Rollins stepped out of the way, and Breakker slammed through the barricade and into Heyman instead.
