Nikki Bella may have been recovering from an injury. However, that didn’t stop her from looking for ways to be part of the WWE Clash in Italy event. The Hall of Famer recently revealed that she pitched a creative idea that would have allowed her to appear on the show without stepping into the ring.
Nikki suffered an ankle injury just weeks before WrestleMania 42. After undergoing surgery, she has spent the last many weeks focused on recovery. Even though she wasn’t cleared to wrestle, she still wanted to contribute in another way.
Nikki Bella reveals Emily in Paris inspired idea for Clash in Italy
Speaking on The Nikki and Brie Show, Nikki shared details about a project she pitched to WWE called “Ciao Bella.”
She explained that the concept would have featured her traveling around Italy with different WWE Superstars in a series of lighthearted segments. She described it as WWE’s version of Netflix’s Emily in Paris. It would feature her exploring Italian culture while interacting with WWE stars in unique situations.
“I pitched this incredible idea called ‘Ciao Bella.’ I was like, ‘Hey guys, I would love to do this. Whether it’s pre-show, like when we used to do those fun promo commercial things for PLE, or just make it social,” Nikki said.
“I had where I titled it ‘Ciao Bella’ because obviously Bella and being in Italy and Brie and I have Italian, but where I’d have these different moments with WWE superstars. So like there would be a moment where I’m on like the Italian scooter with Danhausen and his scarf is like flying in my face.”
Nikki came up with several creative scenarios featuring different WWE stars.
“And then I’d be on a gondola ride with Gunther, and like he’s just staring straight, being Gunther. And I’m like looking around like totally Emily in Paris. Like what’s happening,” she added.
“And then the gondolier is like, another WWE superstar that’s either giving me the looks or he’s someone that, you know, hates Gunther. And then I have this other moment where Oba and I are getting gelato and trying to attempt a selfie with him and obviously the height different. But then Judgement Day comes and slaps our gelato out of our hands,” Nikki continued.
The goal was to show off Italy’s culture, scenery, and landmarks while creating entertaining moments.
Nikki said that WWE officials liked the concept and discussions about the project moved forward for a while. She also shared a funny story from a trip to Italy that helped inspire the name. Locals kept saying “Ciao Bella” to her, and for a moment she thought everyone recognized her. She later learned it’s just a common Italian greeting. However, it stuck with her and became the title for her project.
But despite the positive feedback, the concept eventually fell through and never became part of Clash in Italy.
