WWE’s Ludwig Kaiser Pleads Not Guilty After Arrest In Battery Case

WWE‘s Ludwig Kaiser has officially entered a written not guilty plea following his arrest on a misdemeanor battery charge.

WWE Superstar Ludwig Kaiser (real name Marcel Barthel) was arrested in Orange County, Florida, on May 20, 2026, on charges of battery against a male following an altercation outside the 12th-floor elevator of his apartment complex on April 23. He was later released from Orange County Corrections on a $1,000 bond.

Now, according to Orange County court documents, Ludwig Kaiser’s legal team moved quickly to submit several standard filings. His attorney, Thomas D. Sommerville, filed a notice of appearance on his behalf. Kaiser also received a waiver, exempting him from appearing in person for the arraignment proceedings, and entered a written plea of not guilty to the charges against him.

The filing also states that Kaiser has formally requested a trial and asked the court for a 10-day window following the scheduled arraignment date to file any subsequent motions challenging the charges.

Ludwig Kaiser also filed a notice stating his intent to fully participate in the discovery process under the Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure. The defense requested that prosecutors provide all evidence, including police reports, witness statements, search-and-seizure records, video surveillance footage, expert reports, items that can be tested for DNA, and details on any potential confidential informants.

Ludwig Kaiser requested international travel permission

Since his WWE commitments require frequent travel, Ludwig Kaiser’s legal team filed a “motion to allow out-of-state and international travel” while the misdemeanor case is pending.

According to the motion, Ludwig Kaiser learned of the arrest warrant on May 19, 2026. He was in Mexico for work and immediately arranged to travel back to Orlando to turn himself in the following day, and was released after posting a $1,000 bond with the condition that he have no contact with the complaining witness.

The filing notes that Kaiser maintains his innocence and intends to appear for all required court proceedings related to the allegations.
