Saraya: I Feel Like There Isn’t A Spot For Me Right Now, I’ll Be Back Eventually

Saraya will be back wrestling in the future, but admits that AEW does not need her anymore.

The former AEW Women’s Champion came into AEW with huge fanfare in 2022. Her debut saw the English star come out of retirement after a career-ending neck injury, instantly becoming a top star in the division.

However, she has not been seen in the ring since October, with Saraya’s absence from AEW being conspicuous. While she admits that her career is ending soon, she does not intend to end her wrestling run quite yet.

Speaking with Joe Vulpis on the Lightweights Podcast, Saraya was asked if she was planning to return to the ring any time soon. The former WWE Divas Champion admitted that AEW doesn’t have a spot for her at the moment, but that she would be back wrestling again eventually.

“Yeah, I mean, I feel like at this age and time, there isn’t really a spot for me right now,” Saraya admitted. “I feel like everybody’s got their own thing. It’s just not… I mean, eventually, I love wrestling. I will—I’ll be back at work at some point. But right now, I just… like, it’s good. They don’t need me. They don’t need me.”

Saraya Confirms AEW Contract Is Up In September, Wants A Match With Mercedes Moné

TMZ caught up with Saraya and asked about when she will return to AEW TV. Saraya has not competed since the October 8, 2024 episode of AEW Dynamite, but says the company is just waiting for the right way to bring her back into the fold.

“I don’t know [when I’ll be back on TV]. I’m ready to go now,” she said. “It’s just trying to find the best way to introduce me again. Which I think — I’d love to go against Mercedes [Moné], I think that’s important. She ‘ended my career’ in a way, it’s wrestling, it happens. But I feel like it would be really great to face her.”

Saraya was then asked if she would return to WWE. She said she’s open to it, and perhaps it might happen in the future.

“Yeah, I love WWE. I appreciate everybody there. They made me, they gave me my career and I’m just appreciative of that. One day, who knows. I love my time in AEW though.”

The interviewer asked if one day was closer than we think. Saraya then revealed when her AEW contract expires, but teased staying with the promotion as an option.

“Well, my contract with AEW is up in September,” Saraya shared. “So maybe I’ll stay with them, maybe not. I don’t know.”
