The WrestleMania 39 Match Vince McMahon Changed The Result Of Finally Revealed

WrestleMania 39 featured a match that has long been reported to have been changed by Vince McMahon, and now, we know what that match was.

What WrestleMania 39 match was changed by Vince McMahon?

According to a new report from Fightful Select, the match between Edge (Adam Copeland, now Cope in All Elite Wrestling) and “The Demon” version of Finn Bálor was originally set to end with a Bálor victory, with Adam Copeland even pushing for Finn to walk away the winner backstage.

However, Sean Ross Sapp’s report notes that McMahon wanted Copeland to win the match, and pushed for it to happen. Prior to this new report, many fans theorized that McMahon was the one behind the decision to have Roman Reigns defeat Cody Rhodes, but that seems not to be the case.

The report notes that, while McMahon did support the decision to have Reigns win, that had already been WWE’s plan for some time.

Reports of WrestleMania 39 being changed by McMahon surfaced pretty much immediately after the show, and even more so in the week after. Following WrestleMania 39, McMahon also said to have been more or less fully in charge of the episode of WWE RAW after the event, making “sweeping changes” to the show, according to Fightful.

Following WrestleMania 39 and WWE RAW’s episode, many believed that McMahon had essentially taken back some control over WWE. However, just a few months later in January 2024, McMahon would resign from the company a second time and also resign from WWE’s parent company, TKO, after new reports of sexual accusations were reported.
