During a street fight on Dynamite for the AEW World Championship, Jon Moxley took a suplex from Cope onto a nailed board that Cope refers to as Spike. The weapon in question stuck into Moxley’s back. Making it quite the scene to watch Wheeler Yuta and the referee attempt to remove it from his back.
This spot has sparked a wide range of conversation online and a new report shines some light on the backstage response to the controversial moment.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), the backstage reaction was wild with many in disbelief that a spot like this was actually paid off after being teased for almost a decade. Despite how gnarly it looked, Sapp states that Moxley was said to be okay following the match.
Moxley is scheduled to defend the AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland next month at Dynasty.
