Glenn Jacobs, aka Kane, Challenges Tim Walz To Charity Wrestling Match

Glenn Jacobs is putting his money where his mouth is.

Earlier this week, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz appeared on California Governor Gavin Newsom’s podcast and expressed his belief that he’s tougher than most MAGA Republicans.

“I think I could kick most of their ass,” Walz said. “I don’t know if I could outrun them, but I don’t know if we’re going to fall into that place where we want to, okay we challenge you to a WWE fight here.”

The remark resulted in a response from the Kane WWE Twitter account, who joked that he had found his final victim/opponent. Now, Jacobs, the sitting Knox County (Tennessee) Mayor, made a pitch for a charity wrestling match against Walz. Jacobs offered to put up $10,000, and the purse would be split among two charities that each man chooses.

“All joking aside, @GovTimWalz, let’s put our money where our mouth is…in a charity wrestling match. We’ll split the gate 50/50 between our chosen organizations. I’ll kick things off myself with a $10,000 donation. What do you say?” Glenn Jacobs wrote.

Jacobs hasn’t wrestled for a number of years; the last time he competed was as a surprise entrant in the 2021 Royal Rumble. Prior to that, his last match was the infamous (and largely panned) DX vs. Brothers of Destruction match at WWE Crown Jewel 2018.

Glenn Jacobs believes celebrities create buzz, not swing elections

Jacobs has been a prominent supporter of Donald Trump and the Republican Party for several years. Recently, Jacobs appeared on the Going Ringside podcast and reacted to claims that Hulk Hogan helped sway the election in Trump’s favor.

“I think that is an insult to the American people, actually,” Glenn Jacobs said. “Celebrities create buzz. When I ran for office, I brought in some of my colleagues and other celebrities. It brings people to your events so you can deliver the message, and yeah, it creates immediate buzz.”

“However, I don’t think it actually swings the election. What it does, is the people who are already for the candidate think it’s cool. But it’s not like people are gonna change their mind. The American people are not that shallow that celebrity endorsements sway their opinion.”

“Donald Trump won this election because he was a better candidate with better policies,” Jacobs said, before explaining how the Democrats lost the election with their candidates and policies.
