A match that fans have been asking about for quite some time could be happening as soon as next month at AEW Dynasty.
Last night on AEW Dynamite, Mercedes Moné successfully defended her TBS Championship against Billie Starkz. This match had been built over the last several weeks in backstage segments between the two women. Something that Ring of Honor Women’s World Champion Athena has taken keen notice of on social media.
Fans have speculated this recent storyline would be paid off with a long-awaited match between Mercedes and Athena. But a new report suggests this match will be taking place sooner than many had initially thought.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), a match between Mercedes and Athena is indeed the plan and that match could take place as soon as next month at AEW Dynasty in Philadelphia.
Despite working together several times over the years, the two women have never faced each other in a one-on-one matchup.
