How did Trish Stratus come up with the outfit that she wore on her WWE debut?
WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus recently did a career retrospective on the WWE Vault. While discussing her WWE debut to scout Test and Albert to form the tag team T&A, Stratus revealed how she came up with the outfit that she wore during her debut.
“I have very fond memories of my first television appearance,” Trish Stratus said. “I had been brought on the road, I was traveling with Lilian Garcia, and I was just waiting. Waiting for the right storyline, we’re getting ideas pitched and things like that, trying to find the right thing to debut Trish Stratus.
“So we were at Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, and I was brought an idea that tonight is the night you are going to be debuting a team, Test and Albert, otherwise known as T&A, which also means talent and ability. What were you guys thinking? No, it’s talent and ability. It was always talent and ability.
“So we were debuting this team. I’m a heel manager, but what am I gonna wear? That was the big question. What am I gonna wear? So we went out to the local mall in Long Island. It’s funny, because how did you know to use a cowboy hat with the look you put together? It was actually — a little secret, guys. It was what was in at the time.
“And in all the malls, there were cowboy hats aplenty. I wanted to find some sort of an outfit that was a style. I thought about like kids dressing up as characters. You know, The Undertake I’d wear that hat, I’d wear a trench. I found the hat, had the jacket, had the matching this and that and it became my thing. I think years later, you might have seen me come out in a similar attire, I was calling back to that first day on the job.”
Stratus is referring to the attire she wore in the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble, which was a tribute to her debut attire 25 years ago.
