Seth Rollins Confirms New Becky Lynch Acting Role, Unsure When She’ll Return To WWE

Seth Rollins knows Becky Lynch will be back in a WWE ring, but fans still don’t know when. During a recent interview with Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports, Rollins gave a bit of a status update on his wife’s whereabouts.

Rollins confirmed two projects that Becky Lynch is filming, one of which is Happy Gilmore 2. The new Adam Sandler film also features AEW star MJF, who reportedly plays the role of Happy’s son, Gordie Gilmore. PWInsider.com previously reported Lynch had a supporting role in the movie, but the initial report, nor Rollins, confirmed details about her role.

Rollins also mentioned Lynch landed an upcoming role in what FOS described as a “Star Trek property that will come out on Paramount+.” Lynch previously confirmed she was cast in the first season of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy on Paramount+.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her in a WWE ring, but when the timing is right, she’ll be back,” Rollins said about Lynch’s in-ring status. “I know the fans are looking forward to it. I’m just having my wife on the road with me, so I’ll be excited about it as well. But I’m not exactly sure what the timing is on that.”

What’s next for Becky Lynch?

Happy Gilmore premieres on Netflix on July 25, 2025. Star Trek: Starfleet Academy is expected to debut on Paramount+ in 2025 or 2026. The first season will feature 10 episodes, while a second season is in development.

Lynch’s last match was a steel cage loss to Liv Morgan on the May 27, 2024, episode of WWE RAW. This was also her last live WWE television appearance. She reportedly entered free agency shortly after, but Fightful reported that Lynch later agreed to terms on a new deal. Lynch has appeared at some related Netflix events, but has not reappeared on WWE programming, aside from briefly being shown in stock footage during a trailer.

Lynch addressed her future during a March 2024 appearance on the Getting Over: Wrestling Podcast. She’s not sure how wrestling will fit in in the future, but knows it will always be part of her somehow.

“I don’t know the answer to these questions. I genuinely don’t. I’m being so vague and I don’t mean to be in any way cagey. But I feel like I have a great mind for wrestling, a great love for it. And so it’s always going to be there, in my heart and in my head; it’s part of my family.

“It’s the reason I have my family. So it’s so important to me, I just don’t know what that looks like in the future. I genuinely don’t have any answers for you because I don’t know. I think life continues to surprise me in wonderful ways recently. You can make all these plans, and sometimes things don’t go the way that you intended. But in the long run, something works out and something becomes better than you expected. And I feel like that’s been my whole run.”
