Saraya says she’s not going to be in wrestling forever, and she wants to make the most of it.
Saraya, formerly known as Paige, signed with AEW in 2022, and she went on to win the AEW Women’s World Championship. She had a run as a member of The Outcasts, and she later paired up with Harley Cameron. However, Saraya has been absent from AEW programming since October, and there is no word on when she will return.
Speaking with Rick Ucchino for The Takedown on SI, Saraya commented on her time in AEW and noted that she had no problem losing to her opponents. She stated that she would not be in wrestling forever, and she was “coming to the end of it” soon.
“I’m letting people beat me, left, right and center. I was on a losing streak, but I just wanted people to get their rub,” Saraya said. “I want to uplift everybody. I’m not gonna be in wrestling forever. I’m coming to the end of it and it’s very soon. And I don’t wanna go out being like, I need to be on top.”
Saraya On Taking A Step Back
Saraya went on to discuss her time working with Harley Cameron. She noted that she wanted to have a storyline with her, but she didn’t think that would be happening. Saraya then said that the best thing she could do is take a step back.
“People love her. I’m like, ‘I need to take a break,” she said. And then maybe, eventually, I can come back and we can go into a story where I’m just trying to hold you back again, and then you get your big pin on me.’ That’s the idea that I wanted. I don’t think we’re doing that now, but I said the best thing I can do is take a step back.”
Per Ucchino, Saraya does not know when she will return to the ring. She has been working on other projects during her time away.
