Mike Bailey On Signing With AEW: It Was Time For Me To Make It To The Big Leagues

Former TNA X-Division Champion “Speedball” Mike Bailey opens up about signing with AEW.

Bailey had been expected to head to AEW after he wrapped up with TNA. He took some time away to renew his visa, and he made his long-awaited debut on the Match 12th episode of AEW Dynamite.

In an interview with Chris Mueller for Bleacher Report, Mike Bailey discussed signing with AEW.

“I think my biggest accomplishment in pro wrestling, and in life to be honest, is making every single year better than the last,” Bailey said. “It was time for me to step up and make it to the big leagues, and AEW is where the best wrestle, and in my opinion, it’s where I belong.

“My favorite thing to do in pro wrestling so far has been going around and going to so many places. When I couldn’t come to the U.S. for five years, I actively made the decision to be in as many places as possible. I would spend my time traveling around the world on a monthly basis. Spending one month in Japan, one month in Europe, and then one month back in Canada.”

Mike Bailey Wants To Wrestle In NJPW

Bailey then noted that he has wrestled all over America on the independent scene. Moving forward, he expressed his interest in wrestling in NJPW and CMLL as a representative of AEW.

“Over the last three years under my previous contract, I was allowed to do all the independent bookings that I want,” he said. “I wrestled for every single promotion in America that I could because I love variety.

“Obviously, right now, AEW is my focus. It’s where I want to be, it’s where I want to wrestle, but wrestling for New Japan and CMLL and going to those places to represent AEW would be a huge honor.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on March 19th.
