CM Punk, Rey Mysterio and TJ Wilson Wanted To Work FSW Vegas’ Chris Bey Benefit Show

FSW owner Joe DeFalco shares insight into the upcoming benefit for Chris Bey.

This Sunday, Future Stars of Wrestling will host Beynefit for Bey, a special event aiming to raise funds for TNA Wrestling’s Chris Bey. The former TNA Tag Team Champion has been sidelined with a severe neck injury since October, with a recent update indicating that he was learning to walk again.

Names from TNA, AEW, WWE, and the independent wrestling circuit will take part in the Beynefit for Bey. Amongst the WWE representatives is former NXT Champion Karrion Kross. According to FSW promoter Joe DeFalco, a number of other WWE stars including CM Punk hoped to work the event as well. Due to scheduling conflicts, however, they were unable to commit to it.

WWE’s current tour prevented some talent from participating

“Rey Mysterio was going to work the show, which was crazy to me,” DeFalco told In The Weeds (h/t to Fightful for the transcription). “He wanted to work. He was trying to tag team with TJ Wilson, who hasn’t wrestled in forever. Kevin [Karrion Kross] reached out and TJ was like, ‘Don’t worry about it. I won’t do any high flying stuff. I would just do mat stuff.’ He was talking about teaming with Rey Mysterio to wrestle Dominik [Mysterio] and Kross in the main event.

“That became, ‘Hold on, we have the European tour.’ That kind of put the kibosh on that. Bey was talking to CM Punk yesterday and Punk was like, ‘If we weren’t on this tour, I would have worked the show.’ If somebody would have told us, I would have moved it a week later.”

FSW’s Beynefit for Bey will emanate from the Veil Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada. Advertised talents include AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Johnny TV, Brian Cage, TNA’s Trey Miguel, Zachary Wentz, Ace Austin, Frankie Kazarian, and the aforementioned Karrion Kross.
