Could John Cena be dropping hints about his heel character’s new direction?
Cena is advertised to appear on WWE RAW on Monday. This will be his first official appearance since turning heel and aligning with The Rock last month. RAW is also the first time Cena and Cody Rhodes will be in the same building since the latter was attacked at Elimination Chamber. As is always the case with Cena’s social media posts, Cena posted a few pictures that left fans questioning the meaning behind his posts.
On Sunday, Cena posted a photo of a decaying zombie positioned behind a pie. Fans quickly identified this image originated from the Return Of The Living Dead Instagram page. The account first posted it in honor of “Pi Day” on March 14. However, wrestling fans speculated the “pie” link could be for The Rock too.
A day later, Cena posted a photo featuring the late Cesar Romero as the Joker in the 1960s-era Batman series. This isn’t the first Joker-related photo Cena has posted, but those featured Heath Ledger as the Clown Prince of Crime and Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.
Could Cena be hinting at how his heel portrayal might incorporate some silly antics? Is he planning on growing a mustache that he’ll refuse to shave and hide under some stage makeup? We’ll find out soon when RAW airs live from Brussels, Belgium!
The Rock and John Cena don’t appear to be getting this team name
On the latest episode of WrestleVotes Radio, it was reported that one idea for the name of the newly formed Rock and Cena alliance was “The Rock and Soul Connection.” However, this was quickly shot down on by former WWE writer and The Rock’s right-hand man, Brian Gewirtz.
“Your sources are drunk,” Brian Gewirtz said in a post on Twitter/X.
As of now, it’s unknown if WWE will even give Cena and The Rock a team name. John Cena is scheduled to appear on RAW, but The Rock is not currently advertised to appear.
