Ricochet looks back on being part of WWE Speed.
In the last few months of his WWE run, Ricochet was featured on WWE Speed; he was the inaugural WWE Speed Champion. WWE Speed airs exclusively on Twitter, and the short match times have led some to argue that it’s a demotion from typical WWE television.
Speaking on Unlikely with Adrian Hernandez, Ricochet was asked whether he was offended by being booked for WWE Speed.
“No…yeah, you gotta look at everything as an opportunity, and if you don’t, then I think you’re already kind of defeated,” he said. “You have to look at everything, especially…they were putting something into this. I wanted to be a part of building something, building something and making it as big as possible. I like that feeling. So again, any opportunity you get, you gotta strike, and that’s kind of the way I see it. And that’s with everything. Life, wrestling, everything.
Ricochet On Joining AEW
Even before he left WWE, Will Ospreay publicly made it clear that he wanted to see Ricochet bet on himself if the opportunity arose. He also said that he wanted to see the former WWE Intercontinental Champion come to AEW. In his interview with Hernandez, Ricochet was asked about these comments. He noted that it felt good to see that.
“To see someone of his caliber say those things, obviously, is great,” he said. “Will’s somebody I’ve had my battles with, somebody that I know what he’s capable of doing and the things, the matches, the caliber he’s capable of having, it’s always great. Especially with AEW and they were on fire, and they’re now more on fire than I feel they’ve been in a long time. To have him and not just him but a lot of people say that they wanted me to be there feels good. Now that I’m there and I’m destroying everybody, I don’t know how they feel about that.”
Ricochet left WWE in July and signed with AEW. He made his AEW debut at AEW All In. He has been a featured member of the roster ever since. Ricochet recently advanced in the AEW International Championship Eliminator Tournament.
