Why did WWE move Drew McIntyre to SmackDown earlier this year via the transfer portal?
Last month, Drew McIntyre was officially moved over to the SmackDown roster after a long stint on the RAW brand. While some fans found the move to be random, WWE had a plan in place for McIntyre when he was moved to the blue brand.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, McIntyre was moved to SmackDown for a series of matches with Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship. These matches were planned for after WrestleMania 41.
Meltzer goes on to speculate that all of this could fall apart if Rhodes drops the title to John Cena at WrestleMania next month.
Drew McIntyre is reportedly scheduled to face Damian Priest at WrestleMania 41.
Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on what’s next for McIntyre as it becomes available.
