Jeff Cobb Addresses Rumors About WWE’s Interest In Him

Jeff Cobb is … clearly having fun with the reports about his future.

Earlier this week, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select) reported that WWE has had their eye on Cobb. One source went as far as telling Sapp that Cobb was already listed on the WWE internal roster, but Sapp noted he was unable to confirm that part.

Cobb responded on Twitter, claiming the rumors were true… about him beating Tetsuya Naito in the New Japan Cup.

“Geez guys relax! I just woke up and holy hell! Look at all these notifications! I guess I have some explaining to do. Well let me calm everyone’s nerves….. the rumors are in fact 100% TRUE,” Cobb began. “I will be eliminating Naito from the New Japan cup LIVE TODAY! So tune in to njpwworld! #NJPW #NJPWWorld #NJCup”

Cobb followed it up with another post, claiming he was ready to offer the real scoop.

The scoop? He found a “bad ass sandwich shop” in Osaka.

Cobb did not divulge any more details about his order, which looks like it’s a steak, cheese and peppers sandwich. The restaurant definitely earns points for offering both potato wedges AND a side salad. Maybe his next update will reveal the name of the restaurant, we’ll see!

Moving on from this highly-important update, Jeff Cobb made good on his promise to beat Tetsuya Naito in the tournament. With the win, he will now move on to face Shota Umino in the next round of the New Japan Cup. The winner of that match will move on to face Drilla Moloney or Shingo Takagi in the semifinals.
