TNA iMPACT Results:

This week’s episode of TNA iMPACT kicks off with a recap of last week’s show.

Eddie Edwards (w/ Alisha Edwards) vs. Leon Slater

  • The finish of the match saw Eddie Edwards hit Leon Slater with the Boston Knee Party to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Eddie Edwards

With the victory, The System will have the man advantage in the steel cage match at Sacrifice.

Grade: B+

It was a fun opener. But I really wish wrestling would stop with the man-advantage trope in these multi-man steel cage matches. The heels win 95% of the time and it’s so overplayed and predictable. It would be a lot better if these matches were less predictable.

Sami Callihan can’t touch Mance Warner until Sacrifice

Sami Callihan is backstage freaking out and hyping his match with Mance Warner tomorrow night at Sacrifice. Callihan has been informed by Santino Marella that he can’t touch Mancer before the match or he’ll be fired. Mance Warner and Steph De Lander show up and try to provoke him but Callihan doesn’t fall for it.

Wes Lee (w/ Tyson and Tyriek) vs. Laredo Kid

  • The finish of the match saw Wes Lee hit Laredo Kid with a Cardiac Kick to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: Wes Lee

After the match, The Rascalz and Ace Austin come out on the stage. Trey Miguel makes note that they came out after Lee’s match because they weren’t out there to attack him from behind like cowards. Miguel says tomorrow night at Sacrifice they are coming for all three of them. Ace Austin says Lee forgot what TNA is all about. Austin says if you cross the line, you get dealt with.

Zachary Wentz says they will close this chapter of their careers tomorrow and send Lee packing right back to NXT.

Grade: B+

Another fun match. It’s rare we get these back-to-back on iMPACT so I’m feeling pretty good about tonight’s episode so far. Hopefully, we can keep this momentum going.

Rosemary vs. Xia Brookside

  • The finish of the match saw Rosemary hit Xia Brookside with green mist causing the disqualification.

Winner: Xia Brookside (via disqualification)

Grade: C

The less said about this match, the better. Moving on…

When will Steve Maclin and Eric Young cross paths in TNA again?

A video package plays featuring a conversation between Steve Maclin and Eric Young. It’s teased that while they are willing to go their separate ways for now, their paths will once again cross in TNA down the line. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

JDC vs. Cody Deaner

  • The finish of the match saw JDC hit Cody Deaner with a thumb to the eye followed by a Falcon Arrow to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: JDC

Grade: N/A

This match was way too short to grade. I’m not even sure why they bothered with this, to be honest beyond giving The System another cheap win heading into Sacrifice. I feel their time could have been better used elsewhere. This show is tanking quickly, which is very disappointing because it started so strong.

Arianna Grace joins the commentary table for the next match.

Cora Jade and Tessa Blanchard vs. Masha Slamovich and Lei Ying Lee

  • The finish of the match saw Cora Jade hit Masha Slamovich with the Knockouts Championship, allowing Tessa Blanchard to hit Slamovich with the Buzzsaw to score the pinfall victory for her team.

Winners: Cora Jade and Tessa Blanchard

Grade: B

Fine match overall. Nothing special but nothing bad either. A perfectly acceptable tag match.

The Summit between Mustafa Ali and Mike Santana

There is a Summit held backstage between Mustafa Ali and Mike Santana. Tom Hannifan is hosting the event. Mustafa Ali tells Hannifan that he doesn’t have a problem with Santana and that he believes Santana can’t handle the pressure of being the leader this company needs.

Mike Santana doesn’t understand why Ali thinks he can’t handle pressure. Santana runs down his history and reminds Ali that he took down The System by himself. Ali says none of that is pressure. Ali says pressure is failing and dusting yourself off and coming back stronger. Mustafa says Santana isn’t a leader, he’s an addict.

Santana tells Ali that he’s full of shit. Santana says he and the locker room are onto him. Mike says he isn’t here for TNA, he’s here for himself. Santana says he is an addict and he accepted that reality a long time ago, but he’s an addict for the fans and for TNA.

Mike Santana says for every addict out there he’s proven it’s possible to hit the bottom and rise again. Santana says at Sacrifice Ali’s hands better cash his checks. Ali says there’s too much tension here and everyone needs to calm down. Ali puts a bottle of alcohol on the table and tells Santana to take a drink.

Mustafa Ali says Santana will lose at Sacrifice and he’ll break and go back to the bottle. Ali says he’s gonna let everyone down, including himself, and says he’ll break his daughter’s heart. Santana attacks but is overcome by the numbers game. Ali pours Santana a glass and sits it by him telling him it’s there for him when he wakes up.

Who will face Joe Hendry tonight…?

Joe Hendry comes to the ring and wants to know who will challenge him tonight for the TNA World Championship. Santino Marella comes out and says he has someone special in mind to face Hendry tonight, out comes Ryan Nemeth. Nemeth says his brother is back tomorrow night at Sacrifice.

Nemeth says his brother hates Hendry just as much as he does and that his brother has given him his contractually obligated rematch and he’s taking it right now.

TNA World Championship: Joe Hendry (c) vs. Ryan Nemeth

  • The entire match was Joe Hendry hitting Ryan Nemeth with a Standing Ovation to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TNA Champion, Joe Hendry

Grade: N/A

Well, that was a thing that happened on tonight’s show…

Santino Marella says that wasn’t who he had in mind and introduces the person he had in mind, Alex Hammerstone.

TNA World Championship: Joe Hendry (c) vs. Alex Hammerstone

  • The finish of the match saw Joe Hendry hit Alex Hammerstone with a Standing Ovation to score the pinfall victory.

Winner: And still TNA Champion, Joe Hendry

Grade: B

After the match, The System attacks Joe Hendry which brings out their opponents for tomorrow’s Sacrifice pay-per-view as TNA iMPACT goes off the air.

TNA iMPACT Review:

Well, this show was certainly a mixed bag. It started strong but got worse as the night went along. The Summit segment was a good piece of business and they sent the fans home happy with two Joe Hendry title defenses, but this show wasn’t for me overall. Hopefully, Sacrifice will be a better show tomorrow.

Grade: B-
