Report: WWE Interested In Top NJPW Star

WWE could be looking to sign a top star from New Japan Pro-Wrestling who’s currently a top free agent.

As is tradition with New Japan Pro-Wrestling contracts, several contracts expire every January leaving the company open to losing some of their top talents to other promotions. A new report suggests they might have just lost a big one to WWE.

According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select), WWE has had its eye on United Empire member Jeff Cobb. With one source going as far as to tell Sapp that Cobb is already listed on the WWE internal roster. However, this is something Sapp is unable to confirm as of this writing.

Despite appearing on AEW programming multiple times in recent years, sources within the company told Sapp he’s not expected to join the company.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Jeff Cobb’s free-agent status as it becomes available.
