JD McDonagh aims to be back in a WWE ring sooner, rather than later.
Following a January 2025 tag match against the War Raiders, JD McDonagh revealed that he had sustained some broken ribs and a punctured lung, which rendered him unable to compete for a few months. While appearing on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, the Judgment Day member provided a positive update on his health since then.
“Time heals all,” McDonagh said. “I wasn’t like this the first week or two after but I’m feeling a lot better now. [I’m feeling] pretty good. My lungs are good. My ribs are good. I’m just kind of waiting for the bones to knit back together before they clear me.”
According to McDonagh, his road to recovery began with low impact cardio activities, such as skipping, in the gym in its early weeks. Since then, he has progressed to other non-impactful exercises, such as Pilates. From there, McDonagh hopes to get back into the ring soon to take a bump and run the ropes.
“I’d love to be back yesterday,” McDonagh said. “I’m so bored sitting at home watching the guys traveling around, I’m so jealous. They’re going to Europe this week. They’re doing Madison Square Garden on Monday [for WWE Raw], and then jetting off to Europe. So if I could be back, I’d be back right now. Hopefully, I’m going to put a time frame on it and say within a month I hope to be back, that’s what I’m working towards. So whether that happens or not, whether the WWE docs align, that we’ll see.”
Since his call-up to WWE’s main roster in 2023, McDonagh has established himself as a regular fixture in the Judgment Day stable, with one reign as World Tag Team Champion to his name.
