Scott Steiner‘s chain mail definitely didn’t come from where you expected it to, although the truth fits Big Poppa Pump to a tee.
The former WCW Heavyweight Champion famously wore chain mail to the ring in WCW, something which he carried on for the rest of his career. This was armour worn by medieval knights, but this wasn’t the reason Scott Steiner wore it.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Scott Steiner revealed where he got his chain mail from. The WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he had gone to a strip club to find some strippers to be his “Freaks” for his entrance. While there, he saw some chain mail in a case. Immediately, Scott Steiner knew he had to have it and wore it ever since.
“Well, I had the two girls walk out with me, and I went to a strip bar to find them some nice, sexy lingerie stuff, so they could walk out with me. And I saw that the chain mail in a case. I thought sh*t I gotta have that, and I wore it ever since,” Scott Steiner revealed.
Scott Steiner On His Entrance With A Tiger
If chain mail wasn’t exciting enough, Scott Steiner once brought a tiger to the ring with him.
Channelling Siegfried & Roy, he walked to the ring with the tiger on a leash in front on thousands of likely terrified fans. How he got the tiger was very simple – he just met a guy who had a tiger and asked him if he wanted to be on WCW Nitro.
“Well, it just so happened that weekend we wrestled a few house shows before the Nitro and the guy showed up. So I asked him if he wanted to go to Nitro, which was good for him. He owned a bunch of animals. A lot of them were saved, so I asked him to come. I had to clear it through different channels but they finally gave it to him,” Scott Steiner said.
“Backstage there is a 2,000-pound animal, and Rey Mysterio was wearing zebra print overhauls, and he squat down. That cat was like that. That actually made the guy really nervous. Because he said, please don’t do that again, because if he attacks you, I can’t stop him. So yeah, I noticed it got tense for a little bit.”
“But then we did a walk-through before the show. It was a little bit different, because during the show air shot up. I think it moved a little bit, he felt the power, because it shocked him a little bit. He moved a little bit, and I was right next to him, so he moved me and it was like damn, that’s a powerful animal,” added Scott Steiner.
